SMBA Scholarship Program
The goal of the SMBA Scholarship Fund is to reduce financial barriers to participation in the sport of mountain biking and continue to foster a lifelong love of the sport among today’s youth. SMBA scholarships are funded through the generosity of donors and through this generosity, we are able to award a select number of scholarships annually. Awards may cover 25% - 100% of an applicant’s program fees.
A committee meets to review applications each year, and scholarship awards are determined by the following criteria:
Financial Need: household income (see income guidelines below), family size, and extenuating economic circumstances are all considered.
Merit/Motivation: a letter from both the athlete and their parent/guardian detailing the following: commitment to participation in SMBA, the positive impact participation will have, and key goals they will be able to meet through participation in SMBA.
Funds Available: The number of scholarships and their amount vary annually and is determined by the availability of funds each year.
